Crafted in the Os region outside Bergen, this antique wooden skrin features the classic red base color with gold edging and vibrant floral patterns in green, yellow, blue, white, and black — a hallmark of the Osemaling style.

One side of the box carries the old Norwegian inscription “Under laaget gjemmes noget”, meaning “Under the lid something is hidden.”
Inside, the domed lid is decorated with fresh floral motifs, and a small inner compartment provides space for small keepsakes or jewelry.

This piece carries beautiful signs of age, including natural wear, small marks, and paint loss developed over more than a century. The original key is included, and the lock works, though slightly stiff from age — typical for antique mechanisms.
