This vintage Norwegian mangle board, dated 1975, reflects the long tradition of Scandinavian folk art. Known as a “mangletre,” these boards were historically given as symbolic love tokens from a future husband to his bride.
Hand carved in wood with flowing acanthus patterns, the board features an ornate sculpted handle and detailed decorative carving along its length. The initials “T.S.” and the Roman numerals “MCMLXXV” are carved into the piece, marking the year 1975.
