A Norwegian bentwood box from the 1910s, hand-painted with floral decoration in the Os rosemaling style. Red, green and blue motifs, outlined with fine black stems and yellow accents, decorate the cream-white background.
The oval body has an overlapping bentwood joint and a shaped lid with an arched wooden handle. Two upright wooden end posts hold the lid in place. The lid can be removed completely, revealing the natural wood interior.
